Many Pakistani dramas positively give a strong message, but they often disappoint the audience. Pakistani drama Hasrat ending is no exception in this sense.
Often audience do not like the typical love triangles and Saas Bahu drama, however the direction is also significant to present the old wine in a new bottle. Pakistani drama Hasrat has three major characters two women and one man.
Sanaya is a married woman with two kids who are trying hard to please her husband and especially mother-in-law but also working hard professionally. The audience was dying to see Sanaya as a strong woman but their wish also died its natural death. She was trying to be a perfect homemaker along with a breadwinner as she was contributing more than her husband Arham.
Arham is a weak man and his character is irritating from the beginning. He wants a wife who can handle his mother but does not want to earn alone as the expenses are too much. He is unable to control his mother and sister and ignores the efforts of his wife who is exhausted by doing multiple duties.
Fabeeha is tired of taking care of her mother and sister and she wants someone to fulfill her wishes and desires. She needs a rich man so she does not have to worry about expenses for the rest of her life.
Fabeeha starts working as a house helper, especially for Arham’s mother. Arham’s mother is also one of the most annoying characters. The woman who never appreciated her daughter-in-law’s efforts and always humiliated her quickly becomes fond of a house helper who is making the effort by taking a salary.
Sanaya is often taunted by her husband’s sister and mother for doing a job and not looking after her house but no one wants her to stay home because she does not want free money.
Fabeeha quickly traps Arham or it is better to say Arham is a loose character. It seems he was waiting for an opportunity to cheat on his wife. After Arham marries Fabeeha, everyone behaves like he did wrong. His mother overreacts too much as she is also the culprit who motivated Fabeeha.
The audience wanted Sanaya to move out of that marriage and take care of her children but it seems the fate of women has not changed even after becoming independent. She has to bear all this for the sake of the children with the famous slogan” Baap Chen Jaye Ga Bachon sy” (children will live without father). The father who damn cares about his family and cheats suddenly becomes a victim and people advise a woman to bear it for the sake of children.
Fabeeha was a foolish woman, she should rather take care of Arham’s children to sustain her position but in her jealousy, she lost all that. After Arham realizes Fabeeha’s nature, he throws her out of the house when she is pregnant. The man was an a**hole in the drama but he lost nothing in the end.
Fabeeha dies in the end and Sanaya is going to take care of Arham and Fabeeha’s child.
Pakistani drama Hasrat left the audience with the Hasrat of something strong and different but it ends where the man lost nothing and women lost their lives. (one dies and the other almost loses her sanity)
I have said this many times, a Home breaker (wrecker) is the one who lives (owner) in the house, if your house is strong, no one can break it from outside and you are the one responsible for its wellbeing. Giving the lame excuse of ” the women trapped me” is hypocrisy which our society gladly accepts.
The women of Hasrat did a wonderful job. Sanaya played by Kiran Haq deserves an award for her brilliant performance. I also loved her acting in Akbari Asghari. She is an underrated actress. Fabeeha’s character is played by Janice Tessa who is new but turned out a natural and amazing actress. We would love to see her in more dramas. Arham’s character played by Fahad Sheikh is a big disappointment and it is also not only about character.
If the makers wanted to show the second marriage in a way that men can do four marriages, Sanaya should also forgive Fabeeha. Arham should try to balance both of his families. Killing the one woman is not the solution of anything.
Why always cheater husbands are saved from being ruined and why is it only women? (first or second)
In short, Hasrat ending left a bad taste in the mouth.
